The Mohican Treehouse Resort and Wedding Venue is one of the most popular resorts in the Mohican State Park. It is home to 9 treehouse rentals and 6 cabins, plus a wedding venue.
As much as I want to feature all of the treehouses in this list, I chose the El Castillo, mainly because the design resonates with me. I find it the most aesthetically pleasing of all the treehouses and it also represents what a true modern treehouse looks like, for me, that is.
Two of the treehouses at the resort were designed and built by Pete Nelson, the host and builder of Animal Planet’s “Treehouse Master,” with the Mohican Treehouses’s Little Red Treehouse being featured on the show.
Back to the El Castillo treehouse, let me elaborate more about why I chose to feature it among all the other options. It has 1 bedroom, which is a loft, featuring a king bed. It can sleep a total of 4 people, making it perfect for a small family with kids or a couple on a romantic vacation. It’s not too small that it feels cramped, but it’s also not too big that you feel like it’s too much. Aside from it being beautifully designed, it’s also the perfect treehouse size, based on my personal preferences.
It also has a kitchenette, a full bathroom, air conditioning, and heating, and an outdoor shower.
2. Valley View Cottage with Treehouse

This rental is not exactly a treehouse accommodation but it’s a lodge with a treehouse. It's located in a secluded Mohican area, featuring 3 bedrooms, 3 beds, and sleeps 6. It has 2 full bathrooms, a living area, a kitchen, and a dining area, as well as a 14’ x 14’ pavilion on each deck.
Out in the front yard, there’s an outdoor picnic area with a fire pit and a pizza oven, and a few meters away, is a two-level treehouse with a cabin on the upper level, and a platform below. This treehouse also doubles as an observatory. Guests can set up cots on the platform and sleep under the stars. Or, you can also set them up inside the small cabin on the upper platform. It offers a camping experience but you’re on elevated platforms or decks on a treehouse.
An amazing rental for families, especially those with teenagers, it comes with all the modern amenities while also being close to the Mohican State Park.
3. Tullihas in Trees Treehouse

I adore this treehouse because of its off-the-grid features. There is no electricity or running water, but there is a half bathroom located outside the treehouse.
It features 1 bedroom and 2 beds and sleeps a total of 5. However, if you don’t want to stay inside, there are plenty of opportunities to set up a hammock on the ground level, as well as around the property, which is in a forested area. This treehouse offers a great opportunity to unplug with friends or family since children and pets are allowed to stay.
4. Cozy, Family-Friendly Cabins

Surrounded by the Mohican State Park, this treehouse rental/cabin has 2 bedrooms, 7 beds, and sleeps 10, making it the ideal rental for big families or a large group of friends. It must be noted, though, that no parties or events are allowed.
Other features include 2 full bathrooms, a kitchen, a living area, and a deck on each level. The top deck has a BBQ grill while a hot tub is located on the lower level. WiFi is available, and so is a disc TV, for indoor entertainment. Children and pets are allowed, making it the perfect family-friendly treehouse rental in Mohican County.

Dwellbox Treehouse Village is a property with a number of treehouse rentals. I chose to feature The Box since it’s one of the most unique treehouses I’ve ever seen. It’s basically a shipping container propped above the trees.
It has one bedroom, 2 beds, and 2 bathrooms, accommodating a maximum number of 4 people. The interiors also reflect its exteriors - minimalist, modern, and chic.
Other features include a kitchenette, a living area, a gas fireplace on the deck, WiFi, air conditioning, and an outdoor shower. It is ideal for solo travelers, couples, or a small family.
6. Rustic A-Frame Chalet
