Home of the Great Lakes, Michigan boasts a long coastline, breathtaking scenery, and four lakes running through it. A favorite of outdoor enthusiasts, there’s so much to see and do in Michigan, ranging from bass fishing, hiking, rock climbing, mountain climbing, horse riding, camping, and so much more.
With lush forests and several state parks, one of the most unique things to do in the state is stay at the countless treehouses that are found all across the region.
From beachfront treehouses to luxury treehouse cabins located in extensive properties, to farm stays, and unique treehouse lodgings, Michigan is also a treehouse rental paradise.
I’ve gathered 7 of these treehouses that are perfectly located, giving you options to stay on the beach, near the beach, on the lake, or deep in the woods.

7. Historic Riverfront Cottage
(Photo from VRBO)
Location: Saugatuck, Michigan
Price: $455
Book on: Vrbo
Aside from the luxurious Treehouse Saugatuck, this is one of my favorite tree houses we’ve featured here. This is because this tree house was built in 1850, making it a historic building located in front of the Kalamazoo River.
Though it was built more than a hundred years ago, it remains to be contemporary due to the constant upgrades and renovations over the years. Though it’s already modernized with all the latest furnishings and additions, its original character remains.
A lower-level yard is found below the treehouse, which has outdoor seating and is located only a few steps away from the docks of the Kalamazoo River.
It’s romantic, and historic, and gives you a glimpse of what life must have been like in the 1800s. Important details to know about this treehouse include having 3 bedrooms, 4 beds, and sleeps 6. There are 2 full bathrooms, a kitchen, a living area, and a front deck overlooking the docks and river.
Other features include WiFi, cable TV, and A/C and heater. Children and pets are allowed, making it the perfect family treehouse rental in Michigan for anyone who loves history and vintage architecture.
Offering a variety of different treehouse rentals in Michigan, these are more than just once-in-a-lifetime accommodations, but they have become the norm to enjoy the spoils of nature in the state.
Merging the experience of staying in nature while enjoying all the modern comforts, a Michigan treehouse rental is one of the best ways to experience all the beauty and adventures the state has to offer.
